The Commandant leads a residential cadet college. The college prefers candidates with experience in:
- command and leadership appointments
- training and development of young cadets
- administration of residential institutions
- discipline and character building of cadets

Eligibility
- Retired Colonel or Lieutenant Colonel, or equivalent rank, from the Armed Forces.
- At least 28 years of commissioned service.
- Experience at a cadet college, a military training institution, PMA, PNA, the PAF Academy or the Army Education Corps is preferred.
- Age: 45 to 55 years at the time of appointment.
