About the role

The Government of Sindh invites applications for the post of Vice Chancellor, Karachi Metropolitan University. The Vice Chancellor will be appointed by the Chief Minister on the recommendations of the Search Committee for a term of four years, which may be extendable for one further term of four years on terms that the Chief Minister may determine. The Vice Chancellor will provide academic, managerial and financial leadership, promote quality education, research and development, establish national and international linkages, plan sustainable business models, and gather and analyse sector data for research to inform policy making.

Eligibility

Candidates must indicate the relevant category of eligibility under which they are applying. Eligible categories are:

• Category-1: An eminent academician and distinguished medical professional qualified to be a full Professor as per HEC criteria (Medical Sciences), holding at least a postgraduate fellowship or a Ph.D. in the medical field or equivalent from an HEC/PMDC-recognized university/institute, with a minimum of 20 years' experience including 10 years' administrative, financial and academic experience in positions such as Vice Chancellor, Rector, President, Pro Vice Chancellor, Dean, Chairman, Registrar, Principal in any university/degree-awarding institute/college OR BPS-17 & above or equivalent in public sector or reputable national/international private organization.

• Category-2: A cadre officer of BPS-21 or above (PAS/Ex-PCS/PSS/PMS), holding a Master’s degree from an HEC-recognized university or institute. A selected cadre officer will have to resign or seek retirement from his/her cadre service as applicable.

• Category-3: Candidate with a Master’s degree, preferably a Ph.D., with 15 years' experience in academia/intelligentsia, civil society, research or management leadership and a distinguished research and publication record (at least 10 publications in HEC-recognized journals).

Age: Candidates must not be more than sixty-two (62) years of age on the last date of applying.

Job skills: Analytical and critical thinking, excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills, ability to collect and analyse quantitative and qualitative data, and understanding of financial matters and budget mechanisms.
