About the role

The Universities and Boards Department, Government of Sindh invites applications for the post of Vice Chancellor of Karachi Metropolitan University. The Vice Chancellor will be appointed by the Chief Minister on the recommendation of the Search Committee in accordance with the relevant constitutional provisions and will serve a term of four years. The post requires proven leadership in higher education, strong financial and administrative experience, and the ability to promote quality education, research and industry linkages.

The Vice Chancellor's responsibilities include promoting quality education, leading research and development projects, establishing national and international linkages with industrial and other partners, developing sustainable business models, and contributing to policy making and data-driven research initiatives across industrial sectors.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet one of the advertised eligibility categories:

• Category 1: An eminent educationist or a qualified medical professional holding the rank of full Professor. A PhD from a recognized university/institute or an equivalent medical qualification (recognized by relevant medical council) is required. A minimum of 20 years' experience, including at least 10 years in administrative roles, with demonstrable financial and academic leadership. Experience in senior university or comparable positions (Vice Chancellor, Rector, President, Pro Vice Chancellor, Dean, Registrar, Principal) in universities, degree-awarding institutes/colleges, or equivalent national/international private institutions is required.

• Category 2: Officers of corresponding senior cadres (for example PAS/Ex-PCS/PSS/PMS or equivalent) with a Master's degree from a recognized university/institute. Candidates from civil service cadres may apply based on their service record and experience.

• Category 3: Candidates from other disciplines with a Master's degree and at least 15 years' relevant experience, including a strong research and publication record. For academic applicants, evidence of higher research output with recognized publications (HEC-recognized, typically a minimum of 10 publications) is required.

Maximum age: Applicants must not be above 62 years of age on the last date for receipt of applications.
