Shariah Advisor (Window Takaful Operations)

About the role

State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan is seeking to hire a Shariah Advisor for its Window Takaful Operations (Tayyab Takaful) in accordance with SECP's Shariah Advisors Regulations, 2017 and Rule 9(b) of Takaful Rules, 2012. The appointment will be on a contract basis initially for three (03) years, extendable by mutual consent. Appointment is subject to clearance from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).

Eligibility

Qualification:

• Shahadat-ul-Aalamiyyah Degree (Dars-e-Nizami) from a recognized Board of Madaris with minimum 70% marks and a Bachelor's degree recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan with minimum 2nd Class; OR

• Post-Graduate Degree in Kuliyyatush Shariah or Kuliyyah Usooluddin, L.L.M (Shariah), MS Shariah or equivalent with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or equivalent from an institution recognized by HEC.

Work experience (one of the following):

• At least four (4) years' experience of giving Shariah rulings in fiqh, preferably fiqh-ul-muamalat (Islamic commercial jurisprudence), including the period of Takhasus-fil-Ifta; OR

• At least five (5) years' experience in teaching, research or training in Islamic financial services; OR

• At least five (5) years' experience in working in relevant departments of an institution offering Islamic financial services; OR

• At least five (5) years' experience in the relevant department of banking or securities or insurance/Takaful regulator.

A combination of eligible work experience is acceptable (for example, two years of teaching/research/training plus three years of relevant institutional experience will meet the five-year requirement). Candidates with direct experience as a Shariah Advisor for a Pension Fund Manager, Dedicated Family Takaful, or Window Takaful Operations will be given preference.

Integrity and soundness requirements:

• Candidate must not have been associated with any illegal activity relating to Insurance/Takaful/Fund Management or banking business and must not be in default of payment of dues owed to any financial institution or in default in payment of any taxes.
