Engineering and Design Vacancies at Heavy Mechanical Complex (R&D Lab)

About the role

Heavy Mechanical Complex (HMC) is inviting applicants for engineering and design positions for a newly established R&D Lab & Collaboration Center located in Islamabad. The appointments will support automation, control systems, CAD design, process engineering, mechanical design and leadership of mechanical engineering activities for heavy equipment and industrial projects.

Posts and vacancies

1. Senior Manager Automation & Control (1 position)
- Education: Minimum Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field from a recognized university. Engineering background preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 9 years of relevant experience.
- Key responsibilities: Lead automation, instrumentation and control engineering activities; design, program and troubleshoot PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, VFDs; manage instrumentation selection, installation, calibration, testing and commissioning; coordinate with teams, contractors and vendors; ensure compliance with industry standards and drive reliability and automation improvements.

2. Senior CAD Designer (1 position)
- Education: DAE Mechanical or BSc Technology from a recognized university.
- Experience: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience.
- Key responsibilities: Develop and review 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D CAD models; ensure designs meet GD&T, dimensional, material and tolerance requirements; maintain CAD data, BOMs, revisions and documentation; coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement and Assembly.

3. Process Engineer (1 position)
- Education: Minimum Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field from a recognized university. Chemical Engineering background preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
- Key responsibilities: Lead plant process design and engineering, process development and optimization; develop H&MB, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets and specifications; ensure compliance with ASME, API, ISO, NFPA and relevant safety standards; coordinate with consultants, EPC contractors and vendors.

4. Mechanical Design Engineer (1 position)
- Education: Minimum Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field from a recognized university. PEC-registered engineer shall be preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
- Key responsibilities: Develop mechanical designs and 3D CAD models for equipment, machinery, components and assemblies; prepare and maintain BOMs, engineering drawings and revision-controlled documentation; support fabrication, testing and commissioning.

5. Principal Mechanical Design Engineer (1 position)
- Education: Minimum Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field from a recognized university. PEC-registered Mechanical Engineer shall be preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 15 years of relevant experience.
- Key responsibilities: Lead mechanical design for heavy equipment and machinery; review and approve designs, calculations and specifications; ensure compliance with ASME, API, ASTM and ISO project standards; lead the mechanical team and coordinate with clients, vendors and contractors.

Eligibility

Candidates must hold the specified degrees from a recognized university and meet the stated minimum years of relevant experience for each role. Engineering backgrounds are preferred for automation and control roles. Chemical Engineering background is preferred for the Process Engineer post. PEC registration is preferred for Mechanical Design Engineer and Principal Mechanical Design Engineer roles.
