About the role
National Bank of Pakistan is seeking experienced professionals for Branch Manager (AVP) positions in Aitemaad Islamic Banking. The role reports to the Regional Head and is responsible for overall branch management, business development, customer service and regulatory compliance.
Employment is on a three-year contract, renewable at management's discretion. Selected candidates will receive a compensation package and other benefits under the Bank's policies and rules.
Main responsibilities
- Manage branch affairs, supervise operations and achieve business targets and key performance indicators through marketing and promotion of Islamic banking products.
- Meet existing and prospective customers to market deposits, financing, retail banking products, biometric access control for network and e-commerce applications (BANCA), asset management, remittances, and Federal Board of Revenue and government business.
- Execute the branch's annual business plan and prepare periodic performance reports to keep activities aligned with regional and group strategies.
- Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly and annual targets, allocate targets to sales and customer service staff, and regularly review team performance and productivity.
- Minimize customer attrition, particularly among the branch's top-quartile customers.
- Monitor and process cross-selling of liability and asset products, develop strategies to counter competition, and maximize market share.
- Work with the Branch Operations Manager to prevent fraud and forgery through stringent, proactive internal controls.
- Support new product launches and sales initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with banking laws, regulations, instructions, standard operating procedures and Shariah requirements.
- Monitor and periodically review the branch's credit portfolio where applicable.
- Identify staff training and development needs and nominate employees for suitable courses to address skill gaps.
- Maintain high customer service standards, manage complaints, and handle customers within the required turnaround time.
- Maintain branch premises according to the Bank's standards.
- Ensure fair treatment of customers, educate them about financial products, and address their concerns, queries and complaints.
- Review branch audit and performance reports, address internal and external audit observations, and work with the Branch Operations Manager to prevent recurring issues.
- Maintain branch business files, documentation and comprehensive records.
- Complete processes within the required turnaround time and undertake other assignments given by supervisors.

Eligibility
Applicants must hold at least a graduation degree or equivalent qualification from a local or international university, college or institute recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Candidates with a commerce graduation degree or an Islamic banking certification, degree or diploma will be preferred.
At least six years of branch banking experience is required, including at least three years as a Branch Manager, preferably in Islamic banking.
Candidates must have sound knowledge of branch banking operations, Islamic banking products, anti-money laundering and counter-financing of terrorism compliance requirements, and State Bank of Pakistan Prudential Regulations. They should also demonstrate business acumen, expertise in handling audit issues, analytical ability, leadership and branch management skills, outstanding customer service skills, and excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication. A goal-oriented, results-driven approach and the ability to prioritize and complete tasks are also required.
