About the role

Heavy Mechanical Complex (HMC) is recruiting for a newly established R&D lab & collaboration center located in Islamabad. The centre requires experienced engineering and design professionals to lead automation, process, mechanical design, and CAD work for industrial plants, equipment and heavy machinery projects. Roles involve design, engineering coordination, commissioning support and ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards.

Posts and vacancies

• Senior Automation & Control Manager — 1 position

- Lead automation, instrumentation, and control engineering activities for industrial plants and projects. - Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, VFDs, and control systems. - Manage instrumentation selection, installation, calibration, testing, and commissioning. - Coordinate with engineering teams, clients, contractors, and vendors; ensure compliance and drive reliability and automation improvements.

• Senior CAD Designer — 1 position

- Develop and review 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D CAD models for mechanical components, assemblies, and equipment. - Ensure GD&T, dimensional, material, tolerance and manufacturability standards; maintain CAD data, BOMs and revisions.

• Process Engineer — 1 position

- Lead plant process design and engineering, including process development, optimization, equipment selection and sizing. - Develop and review H&MB, process simulations, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets and design specifications. - Ensure compliance with ASME, API, ISO, NFPA and safety standards; coordinate through procurement, commissioning and troubleshooting.

• Mechanical Design Engineer — 1 position

- Develop mechanical designs and 3D CAD models for equipment, machinery, components and assemblies. - Prepare and maintain BOMs, engineering drawings and revision-controlled documentation; support fabrication, testing and commissioning.

• Principal Mechanical Design Engineer — 1 position

- Lead mechanical design for heavy equipment and machinery; review and approve designs, calculations and specifications. - Ensure compliance with ASME, API, ASTM and ISO project standards; lead the mechanical team and coordinate with clients and vendors.

Eligibility

• Senior Automation & Control Manager: Minimum Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field from a recognized university; minimum 9 years of relevant experience. Engineering background preferred.

• Senior CAD Designer: DAE Mechanical or BSc Technology from a recognized university; minimum 8 years of relevant experience.

• Process Engineer: Minimum Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a relevant field from a recognized university; minimum 6 years of relevant experience. Chemical engineering background preferred.

• Mechanical Design Engineer: Minimum Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field from a recognized university; minimum 4 years of relevant experience. PEC-registered engineer shall be preferred.

• Principal Mechanical Design Engineer: Minimum Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field from a recognized university; minimum 15 years of relevant experience. PEC-registered Mechanical Engineer shall be preferred.
