About the role

National Bank of Pakistan is recruiting experienced finance professionals to join its Financial Control area based in Karachi. The vacancies are for senior positions responsible for general ledger control, fixed assets accounting, Shariah reporting, IFRS 9 and fair valuations, and data analytics. Successful candidates will work with Finance, Risk, IT and business teams, provide management reporting and analysis, ensure compliance with regulatory and accounting frameworks, and support audits and system enhancements.

Posts and vacancies

• Wing Head - Fixed Assets Accounting (VP)

- Responsibilities include reviewing FAMS records before addition/deletion/transfer/disposal, monitoring project costs under fixed asset/CWIP accounts, ensuring timely capitalization, calculating and ensuring accurate monthly depreciation and amortization, processing fixed-asset related SAP entries, preparing MIS for financial reporting and budgeting, and coordinating with auditors and IT for system enhancements. - Qualification and experience: Minimum graduation or equivalent from an HEC-recognized institution; ACCA/CA/ICMA qualifications preferred; minimum 8 years of experience in finance/accounts or articleship, preferably with a financial institution or audit firm. Hands-on fixed assets accounting experience preferred.

• Unit Head - GL Control (AVP)

- Responsibilities include reviewing summarized reports of GL balancing and validation issues, preparing action plans for remediation, extracting outstanding matters for escalation, assisting in CAPEX processing, and preparing MIS reports for GL balancing. - Qualification and experience: Minimum graduation from an HEC-recognized institution; minimum 6 years of experience in finance/accounts or articleship, preferably with a financial institution or audit firm. Hands-on GL accounts experience preferred.

• Unit Head - Shariah Reporting & Special Projects (AVP)

- Responsibilities include preparing monthly/quarterly/annual MIS related to fixed assets and Shariah matters, coordinating with internal and external auditors and statutory bodies, ensuring compliance with IFRS 16 and AAOIFI where applicable, interpreting Shariah rulings for accounting/reporting, and coordinating physical verification of assets. - Qualification and experience: Minimum graduation from an HEC-recognized institution; master’s degree or relevant certifications preferred; minimum 6 years of banking experience with at least 2 years in financial reporting or related functions. Preference for Islamic finance/banking or Shariah-related qualifications and strong knowledge of IFRS, SBP framework and AAOIFI standards.

• Wing Head - GL Control (VP)

- Responsibilities include strategic leadership for GL Control, reviewing accounting and financial reporting treatment of Islamic banking products from a Shariah compliance perspective, maintaining trackers of Shariah observations, supporting responses to Shariah reviews and audits, and coordinating with Shariah Board and auditors. - Qualification and experience: Minimum graduation from an HEC-recognized institution; ACCA/ICMA/CA part-qualified preferred; minimum 8 years of experience in finance/accounts or articleship, preferably with a financial institution or audit firm. Hands-on GL accounts experience preferred.

• Unit Head - IFRS 9 & Fair Valuations (AVP / VP)

- Reporting line: Wing Head - Strategic Finance & Special Projects. Responsibilities include work on IFRS 9 expected credit loss calculations and fair valuation processes as assigned. - Qualification and experience: Minimum graduation or equivalent from an HEC-recognized institution.

• Unit Head - Data Analytics & Insights (AVP)

- Responsibilities include preparing data for IFRS 9 ECL calculations, developing dashboards and analytics for senior management, enhancing IFRS 9 ECL models and fair valuation models, and translating complex data into management presentations. - Qualification and experience: Bachelor's or master's in statistics, mathematics, actuarial sciences, computational finance, data sciences or related field preferred; professional qualifications such as CA/ACCA/ACMA/FRM preferred. Minimum 6 years of experience in data management, analytics, financial reporting or risk management in a financial institution or audit firm, including experience on IFRS 9 related assignments. Strong Power BI, SQL, Python and advanced Excel skills preferred.

Eligibility

• Minimum graduation or equivalent from a local or international university/college/institute recognized by the HEC of Pakistan is required for all roles.

• Professional qualifications (ACCA, CA, ICMA) are preferred for senior finance roles; specific roles note ACCA/ICMA/CA part-qualified candidates will be preferred.

• Experience requirements vary by role: typically minimum 6 years for AVP-level roles and minimum 8 years for VP-level wing heads, with preference for experience in financial institutions or audit firms and relevant domain experience (fixed assets, GL control, Shariah, IFRS 9, data analytics).

• Candidates should have strong communication, report writing, analytical skills, attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word is required. Basic understanding of Power BI and working knowledge of SQL, Power Query, DAX, Python or other data tools is desirable for analytics roles.
