About the role

Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works Limited (KSEW) invites applications for the position of Chief Staff Officer (Deputy General Manager) on a contract basis.

The successful candidate will provide timely analysis, insights and actionable recommendations to support the Managing Director's strategic and operational decisions. Responsibilities include monitoring the Managing Director's decisions, tracking key deliverables and ensuring timely execution through effective interdepartmental coordination.

The officer will lead strategic projects assigned by the Managing Director and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders. The role also involves monitoring key organizational risks, ensuring timely escalation and maintaining effective, confidential and efficient operations of the Managing Director's Secretariat.

Eligibility

Candidates must hold at least a bachelor's degree representing 16 years of education in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Naval Architecture, Marine or Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Management or a related discipline. A master's degree or MBA from a recognized institution will be preferred.

Applicants must have at least 15 years of progressive professional experience in a relevant corporate, industrial, engineering or business environment. This must include at least 5–7 years in senior management or leadership positions in national defence organizations, such as the Pakistan Navy or Armed Forces institutions. Retired Armed Forces candidates will be given preference.

Candidates must have a strong understanding of corporate governance, organizational structures, business operations, strategic planning, risk management and performance monitoring. They must demonstrate the ability to manage relationships and communicate effectively with the Board, government authorities, customers, business partners, senior management and other key stakeholders.

The age limit is up to 55 years, with relaxation available for outstanding candidates.
